My name is Alex Augustyniak, and I'm currently seeking a role as a project manager in the fields of tech, biotech, and healthcare
I currently hold the position of Director of East Coast Operations for LA Medic Services, a boutique healthcare and compliance firm, where I plan, oversee, and manage health and safety compliance for events in the entertainment industry.
I credit much of my team leading experience to my role as a talent coordinator in the NYC film industry. Every day, I was responsible for coordinating with several different departments to ensure that dozens to hundreds of actors were both physically ready to appear on camera and also compliant with employment and union regulations.
In my academic career, I studied microbiology at Gannon University in Erie, PA. I co-authored a paper where my lab was the first to discover advanced antibiotic resistance within a bacterial genus previously thought to be innocuous. In New York, I studied visual neuroscience in a PhD program, where I also worked as a research assistant performing benchwork research, veterinary neurosurgical procedures, and grant writing.
In this program, I was also afforded the opportunity to teach after-school science classes to middle school students as part of an initiative by the New York Academy of Sciences. I also provided technical support and advisement for the development of David Byrne and Mala Gaonkar's Neurosociety production.
While I'm no longer directly involved in academic scientific research, my academic career has given me the lifelong curiosity and ability to analyze, master, apply, and teach complex and emerging topics to people at all levels of understanding.
When I'm not leading a team to success, you might find me at a Shadow Traffic art event (where I provide advisement as a nonprofit board member), tracking down birds, or attending an immersive art production.
